I personally interviewed Helen Kane in her Jackson Heights NY apartment in 1959. A lovely lady who had a wonderful personality and outlook on life even though her stardom had long passed her by.

Helen sued the cartoon producers for stealing her persona, something that could not be done now. But in the 30s who ever heard of protecting your own professional image from financial exploitation?!

The judge personally tossed out the case!

(all you have to do is compare the cartoon Boop with the very REAL hair, eyes, mouth and figure of Helen Kane...)

She did not sue Mae Questel.

Helen lived until 1966 seeing her cartoon persona making millions--for somebody else. She died not well-off, believe me.
