“I think it was the same orchestra that recorded “Keep the Home Fries 
Burning.”

The answer to the question about the  orchestra that recorded both 
“Shoot the Sherbert to Me Herbert” (see Delaunay for spelling of 
“Sherbert”; vocal by the lovely Kathleen Lane) and “Keep the Home Fires 
[actually I prefer “fries”] Burning” is Bob Chester on Bluebird. The 
LoC does not have a copy of Chester’s “Sherbert...” I also noted Tommy 
Dorsey and his Clambake Seven recorded a version of Serbert/Herbert, of 
which I have only the original issue but three copies of the flip side 
with other catalog numbers!
