[78-L] Eddie Stone and Hubert W. David

I have a songwriting mystery. The Broadway Bell-Hops recording of
Show That Fellow the Door on Harmony 159-H shows the songwriters as
Stone and David. An internet search reveals sheet music for this song
written by Eddie Stone and Hubert W. David in 1925. The ASCAP
database seems to indicate that Stone and David were the same person
- a search for Eddie Stone leads to the record for David, and it
credits only David with the writing of Show That Fellow the Door.

You can do your own ASCAP search here:

http://www.ascap.com/ace/search.cfm?mode=search

Googling the name "Hubert W. David" finds a bunch of info on this
British songwriter, with lists of songs that he wrote. For example:

http://www.fredgodfreysongs.ca/Collaborators/david_worton.htm

The pages on David don't list "Show That Fellow the Door" as one of
his. None of the songs listed under his name at ASCAP show up on
these pages, nor does the name "Eddie Stone."

So, what's going on here? Is the Hubert W. David who wrote "Hold Your
Hand Out, Naughty Boy" (not shown on ASCAP) the same person who wrote
"Show That Fellow the Door"? Were there two songwriters named "Hubert
W. David" who were active at the same time? Were David and Stone the
same person (why would someone claim to be two different people at
the same time)?
