If you've got the Hot 5 version, you have, in my opinion, one of the
greatest recordings Armstrong ever made. It leads my desert island list.

Subject: [78-L] West End Blues

Hi,

I was just playing some old jazz 78s and found one quite interesting. "West
End Blues" by Louis Armstrong. As it was on a very old looking 78, I
thought I'd google it, and was quite surprised and happy to find that it's a
very well known and respected recording.

You guys probably know all about it, but here's one link that goes into a
LOT of detail

btw: is there a way to search the archives of the 78-L mailing list?

Dave
