I am intrigued by the change in the lyrics of "They Didn't Believe Me" when
performed by a non-Caucasian singer.

The original lyric was

Your lips, your eyes, your cheeks, your hair,
Are in a class beyond compare.

and it is changed to

Your lips, your eyes, your curly hair (e.g. by Pearl Bailey)

Does this mean that cheeks must be white or rosy to be beyond compare?

Regards
