There's also an earlier generation indirectly involved. Ray Knight, radio comic 
and creator of the Cuckoo Hour in 1929, wrote for Bob & Ray in the early 50s. 
He died in 1953 and Bob married his widow the following year.

I've been listening to some scratchy old "Matinee with Bob & Ray" 
transcriptions over the last few months. Hilarious stuff. It's amazing they 
ever managed to hold onto any of their sponsors.

The SNL special was probably a bit later than 1977, my goof.
