Hi Michael!

There were various 'celebrity' record label colours apart from 'red' 
well into the 20s and beyond in the UK. Generally, this meant that 
they were MORE expensive than the ordinary red label records in the 
UK. Caruso and Battistini were superstars of their day.

So when artistes' 'own colour' labels came to an end or were bring 
used less, pink labels were sometimes used to show their importance.

Mostly, though not always, 'yellow' or 'buff' as it was called, meant 
that there were more than one artiste involved, such as Caruso and 
Mischa Elman (violin) or some other duet. Trios and quartets were 
often on pale green or even white labels.
