[78-L] Help wanted please

I am researching some original letters and correspondence (from the original collection of the late Ralph Venables, here in the UK) dating back to the mid 1930' and into the late 1940's.
 
In this collection is a three page typed letter (dated 1942) from a Wayne Rohlf, who gives his address as Harrison Street, Davenport, Iowa.
 
He discusses Bix and his playing.  The tone of the letter suggests Rohlf had journalistic connections.  Does anyone have any knowledge of him please ?.
