As I mentioned in a later reply, I do in fact find decent prices in that area.
But never 48x or lower CD-Rs which I need for the HHB. The bulk spindles are
fine for my duplicator.

Are you burning to an HHB 850 or 830? If so, for reliable performance, you must use blanks which indicate they are good for real time burning. You'll notice that most HHB blanks say "1x to 8x" burning, (although some of their 80 minute blanks say "2x to 52x" which, obviously, emphasizes that they aren't good at 1x). The only non-HHB CD-Rs which I've seen which indicate this are Sony, which are good from 1x to 48x. These two machines will not reject incompatible blanks but the recordings will often be full of drop-outs if you're using hi-speed blanks. The situation is similar to using hi-speed film in a box camera.
HHB's latest professional CD burner, (CDR-882), has many nice features, including two drives for un-interupted recording of long programs, but it actually requires hi-speed blanks. I'm not completely sure of how it works but basically, as the audio enters the machine it is stored in a buffer and then burnt to the CD as a burst, at around 16 times playing speed.
