Although I've yet to try them, Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs (and DVD-Rs) are recommended by a number of my friends; a spindle of 100 CD-Rs can be purchased on a number of websites for about $23.00

I have a stand-alone duplicator that only likes Maxell blanks, and another which only likes Sony; they spit out any other brands...so I'll have to see how the Taiyo Yudens fare.
