World Encyclopedia of Recorded Music by Clough & Cumming.  Published in
three volumes and a couple of supplements in the early 50s by English
Decca and Crown in the U.S. and reprinted several times in the 80s and
90s.  Combined with the Gramophone Shop Encyclopedia of Music it
supposedly lists all recordings of classical music ever made in the 78
era into the early LP era.  It is available on the web somewhere but I
couldn't find the location tonight.  Regular paper copies are not too
hard to find via the web now, both WERM and the three editions of GSE.
