Anyone ever hear the term "Yodeling in the valley?"

Back in the mid-sixties there was a hilarious afternoon deejay on WLW,
Cincinnati, who made great fun each day on various doings in the Midwest,
actual or not.

He'd report that traffic on the Interstate was backed up because the Mason
Bull Ring was letting out...what was up with the "Wicked Women of
Widhamsville," and the dying night life of Pisgah, Ohio.

One of his favorite "targets" was the venerable WLW newscaster Peter Grant
in whose honor Richard "built" the "Peter Grant Memorial Statue and Bird
Feeder."

At that time I had just picked up the, er, remarkable recording by yodler
Goerge P. Watson doing "Schneider Does Your Mother Know You're Out."

I dubbed it on a reel-to-reel (what else at that time?) and sent it to Mr.
King.

King decided to install it in the Peter Grant statue as sort of an audio
enhancement and then he started playing "Schneider" quite often on his
program.

It became sort of a hit in very German Cincinnati for awhile but
unfortunately it was no longer available in Cincinnati record stores.

BTW does anybody in Florida know what became of Richard King? He left Ohio
for warmer climes and I understand that's where he contined his zany radio
contributions.

Ah! Precious memories!
