"Jazz" ultimately derives from "jism", which a lot less respectable than "doo-wop".

Point taken, Kristjan, but "Doo-Wop" and "Oompah" are onomatopoeic terms 
to describe the sounds thereof. "Jazz" doesn't seem to fit that bill.
