Pye Nixa issued commercial 45's late 1957 already. Petula Clark's "Alone", 
for instance (November 1957). See Brian Henson & Colin Morgan's "First 
Hits - The Book of Sheet Music 1946-1959" which also states format for all 
listed recordings. The Clark title is also marked as 45 rpm in Record 
Collector's Price Guide.

There was an export issue on 45 rpm, though, with same catalogue number.
