Probably to differentiate CHP from the many early LP reissues of 78 material which still had side breaks, often painfully obvious ones.

Maybe it is to differentiate the LP from the locked track of the typical 16"transcription style disk?

And I have a few in paper sleeves. I also have Cherkassky playingthe Tchaikovsky 2nd Piano Concerto on both LP and 78 and neither version is listenable. The 78 set sounds as if they took it from a broadcast and tried fading the sides at the end (maybe they used reverb, can't remember..the experience was too painful for me to want to listen to it again).I haven't seen 78 matrix numbers on CH LP labels. I have seen them onEnglish Decca EPs though (in the dead wax).dlThomas Stern wrote:> On the label of Concert Hall LP's, above the spindle hole is thehands-baton trade mark, "Concert Hall" below, and the phrase> "CONTINUOUS RECORDING" below that.> WHAT does the phrase mean?> At the bottom of the label, Licensed by Concert Hall Society, Inc.
