Waller's own version uses a 14-piece band, which plays the second half of the
piece.

The vendor room, at least the one where I am, on Thursday, was more like a morgue. In 14 years that I've been doing it, I've never seen so little activity on any one day. The excitement of the day came when 78-L'er, Mike Biel, came into our room to advise convention organizer, Jay Hickerson, that the fellow responsible for sound effects came up behind him in another room and fired off a shot gun, I assume loaded with blanks, in the process, reducing his already deficient hearing a notch. ... Anyway, one of the very few people who came into the vendor room inquired of me if I knew of a big band version of Jitterbug Waltz predating 1943. I did not but thought that someone on this list might be able to help. Turns out that the hotel has wi-fi and, thanks to Brian Gari, I will have access to a computer while at the convention. We are there only during th
e day, returning each evening to Manhattan.
