[78-L] random acts of kindness was Capitol's Prep Subsidiary

When I returned from a couple of years in England, I was searching for
a couple of the HANK WILLIAMS 2-LP sets I had missed and which had
disappeared
from the stores. After phoning every large retailer I knew of from
California to
New York, I phoned Mercury in NY to see if they know who might have stock or
remainders.
After getting past the operator, spoke with a very helpful woman who said
there were
a few copies knocking about the office, and she mailed them to me, gratis!!!
A lovely experience for a grateful collector.
  Thomas.

I once walked into the 20th Century Fox offices in the Brill Building (mebbe
early 70's) and asked if they had anything by Glenn Miller. (That's Chutzpah
but I was younger) A wonderful woman, I believe the office manager, reached
into one of her drawers and gave me the soundtrack LP's for "Orchestra
Wives" and "Sun Valley Serenade" I asked what I owed her and she
said.."Nothing..we don't get many requests for this and I hope you will
enjoy them" I did and do.
