[78-L] Berliner question

Nipper was painted in 1898 and was registered as a Berliner trademark on
July 10, 1900.

There's a few interesting google hits on Herr Iff. He was Glaswegian, and
lived at 8 Cranworth Street in 1911 only (talk about random facts). He is
mentioned in an item in Punch magazine of July 20, 1895, and another on May
23, 1896. He performed for the Royal Institute of British Architects' annual
dinner in 1901. His Berliner record "When We Are Married", No. 655, composed
by Gustave Kerker, was released in Autumn 1898, according to the "Life
Before Vinyl" website. He performed at a ball in Drill Hall, Penrith, in
1897, performing "a number of new dances, such as The Circus Girl, The
Liberty Belle and Chin Chin Chinaman. Dancing went on until four in the
morning." And he performed at a Highland Light Infantry Ball in the music
hall and assembly rooms of Edinburgh Castle in 1896.

Those tidbits give a picture, I think.
