Seth Winner had told me about this turntable years ago. I guess
Columbia had been embarrassed to be using a ratty old Gates turntable
for their re-issues (all the stuff from the 60s was done on that with a
VR-II) and somebody probably found some left-over budget money and used
it for this instead of funding 20 or 30 reissue albums with the money.
Cave man mentality. And this reminds me, I wonder what is happening
with the project of streaming 10,000 acoustical recordings from the Sony
archive by LC from the Culpepper Cave?
