Oberstein bought the Reubens' operation and Sonora's masters in 1948 and renamed it the Connecticut record mfg. Co.. Obie started Meriden as a rack label for newstands in 1949 (they had rather attractive picture sleeves) but the music is typical Varsity generic fare. It does not appear to have been one of his more successful ventures.
