Dear Hans,
Did you know that Jean Robert met Adrian Rollini, while playing at the
Elizalde orchestra in Oostende, at the Belgian coast?
This event is mentioned in an old Doctor Jazz magazine, written by Tom
Faber. I'll never forget that Tom Faber told me, that, ehen
he interviewed Jean robert his tape recorded didn't work. He had planned to
organize a new
interview with Jean Robert in Hilversum. At that time I met Klaas van Beeck,
who told me that his friend Jean Robert, with whom he played billards, had
passed away.
So I told Tom Faber, to write down everything he remembered from the
interview he had had with Jean Robert and so he did.
I rembert the tune Desperado Shuffle. It was one of my first records I had
when I started to collecvt 78rpm, but i didn't like the trumpet playing
arouswapped it for an Armstrong 78rpm; one I found a hundred times during
the years to follow; I've never seen a copy of this Desperado Shuffle
again - and now I really like it.
My first copy is now in the collection of a friend-collector, so I know it
is in good hands. Great stuff.

Sorry, 78-L members, once again I didn't notice that it was not a member who
sent me a message, but it came via the List. So you all got a copy of my
reaction in Dutch. Fortunately Hans will use it on his blog and you can all
see it in English by then.......

Dom. Die Armstrong ben ik nog honderd keer
tegengekomen, die Red Robins nooit..... Maar hij zit bij een bevriende
verzamelaar, dus op een goede plek. Ik vind het inmiddels prachtige muziek!
Groeten
Ate
