[78-L] Acoustical blue wax Hawaiian

The blue records are shellac, as far as I know. I think Columbia touted it
as a quieter surface and maybe the blue colorant played a part. Didn't
Edison determine that the Blue celluloid Amberol records were quieter/better
than other colors/undyed?

Subject: Re: [78-L] Acoustical blue wax Hawaiian

Something about this posting has been bothering me since I saw it.
Co A1935 was recorded by Ferera & Franchini on March 16, 1920 and thus
never appeared on a Magic Notes label. The same coupling, using the same
issue numbers, but by Louise & Ferera (mxes 46309 & 46310), was recorded
on December 29, 1915. The blue "wax" pressing was a reissue of the F&F
release, as earlier explained. Both pressings in my collection appear on
the blue gold-band labels, but neither show up on the Magic Notes label.
There may be copies on the Magic Notes label, but I've never seen one.
Now, can someone explain to me what material the blue records were made
out of? Is there any shellac content at all, or is it some sort of
laminated plastic or resin?
