Illinois is (or should be?!) noted for MIS-pronunciations of foreign names!

Cario, Ill's is pronounced KY-RO (just like the syrup!)! We also have
"Ay-thens"and "New BER'-lin!" Worst is our "san chose" (San Jose")
whose high-school basketball team McLean-Waynesville (my "alma
mater) played regularly!
