[78-L] Blistering exchange between Leonard Feather and Chris Albertson

There are many stories of Feather's public criticisms of people who did not
do as he wanted. Here's one:

Members of Stan Kenton's '70s orchestra once asked Stan why Feather
regularly trashed him and the band. Feather's reviews of Kenton concerts and
albums were not only negative, they went way beyond. Kenton told the
bandmembers that Leonard had once submitted several arrangements to the
band. The band played them and it was clear that they were not very good, so
one or two of the musicians laughed (I've had this happen to me as well, so
I can believe the story). Kenton returned them with a thank you. That was
the end of anything pleasant written about the Kenton Orchestra.

He was always trying to promote himself as a composer, and pushed his songs
on several people whose sessions he produced. If they turned him down, he
would often come after them in print. To read some of these types of columns
is laughable.
