[78-L] Flowers and Trees

It's slowed-down and almost imitates the "Morning" passage of Peer Gynt, so
it isn't very obvious or readily identifiable. A clever arrangement,
covering the paucity of instruments. (hah - I got to write "paucity",
finally)

To Martha

THANK YOU! As you can imagine, when I read your e-mail I had a slap to the
head "of course" moment. I first saw that at Disney World in Florida in 2004
and, although I know the piece so well, I simply couldn't put a title to it.
At first I thought it was "Elegie" by Massenet but, of course that wasn't
it. I was trying to think of a piece of music which had a morning or
pastoral connection but nothing worked. I know I have a 12 inch version of
it on Black labeled Victor, but I don't think it's Paul Whiteman conducting.
I'll take a look when I get home, (I'm at a cottage at the moment trying to
squeeze some last minute summer out of this hopeless season, at least in
this part of the world - Southern Ontario).

Now I'll sleep tonight.

Thanks again!
Dave b
