[78-L] Hawaiian Trio on Canadian radio

Perhaps, but it wouldn't surprise me to hear the steel player learned
from any one of the various books or schools devoted to teaching
Hawaiian guitar. Both had been all the rage since about 1916, and they
really took off after WWI. Then again there were many recorded and
non-recorded Hawaiian acts touring all over the country, and in Canada,
too, I would imagine. It's also possible that an act wintered in Toronto
and set up shop to make the rent while there.
The only two Hawaiians I know of that were living in Canada c. 1922 and
recording were Ben Hokea and Al Nani. And they recorded mostly for HMV
in Montreal. They did tests (rejected) for Victor in NYC in 1919, though.
