Here is a recording of Billy Costello (AKA Red Pepper Sam), the 
original voice of Popeye, singing The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down, the 
Looney Tunes theme song:

The Fleischers replaced Costello with Jack Mercer after a couple of 
years. Apparently Costello was too hard to work with.
