Well< I got the 6 DVDs this week and have watched 1 1/2 so far. I had never seen anything but Jazz Singer and Hallulajah I'm a Bum before this.

Started with Wonder Bar. BEAUTIFUL print! Also has nice print of the trailer.

Talk about an ending! How can you top the finale in Wonder Bar (The "mule" song) for politically incorrectness. Jolson and white kids in Blackface, All are eating Watermelons AND Fried Chicken! And he calls them Pickaninnys. I don't think Warners could ever release this a regular set in stores.

Started Big Boy last night - but fell asleep- Not cause of the film - it was late. Not as nice a print as Wonder Bar which is beautiful. And some distorted sound. Also no trailer on this one.

More as I get through them.

BTW, I got the Hollywood Singing And Dancing volume due mid August called "The 20s". It's only 60 minutes but worth renting. There is an hour and a half of bonus shorts, thwe longest being the 30 minute film introducing the Vitaphone Process, plus an early Edison Kinetophone musical (one I hadn't sen). The rest includes the Common Ellington Symphony in Black and Bessie's St. Louis Blues. If you have a Netflix account put this volume in your queuw. Worth a rental.
