"Helen Kane, the recycled persona of Baby Esther.."

 

I spent a couple of hours interviewing Helen Kane in her Jackson Heights NY apartment in 1959.

 

I sincerely doubt that Miss Kane ever even HEARD of "Baby Esther" until that kangaroo court judge arbitrarily threw her lawsuit out.

 

(It must have been a delightful experience for Helen to watch her stolen persona make millions for the Betty Boop cartel while she was pretty well broke from the '30s until she died in 1966. Rest in peace, Helen...)
