But he came back in the early '30s IIRC, and again in the late '30s/early '40s.  His entire Columbia output is on the CD "Eddie Cantor, the Columbia Years: 1922-1940."

The later recordings sound very good, and as far as that goes, I've always been impressed by the sound of Cantor's Columbia acoustics.
