Pod'ner, them's fightin' words. Margaret Whiting was the first singer I
started collecting...due to finding some of her black label Capitols, of
which my first was her super version of "Come Rain or Come Shine." And
her earliest records such as Moonlight in Vermont are flawless to my
untrained but enthusiastic ear.

I saw her here in Seattle at a club gig about 25 years ago...just her and
piano. She sang a lot of her Dad's tunes, superbly, a short version of
her dull hit "Faraway Places" and finished with an encore of "I'll Remember
April" which was some of the best singing I've ever heard.

She wasn't flashy but she was a great singer. I once had a little chat with
the piano player Jimmy Rowles and he said she was the best singer he'd ever
worked with.

Taylor
