I bought A LOT of 45's when I was a teen-ager! I happened to find a local
(Bloomington, Ill's.) jukebox operator who sold used 45's for 25 cents each
or five for a buck. The records were ALWAYS in good shape, oddly
enough...and the price fit my limited budget! I accumulated several
hundred 45's...mostly recent hits, but a lot of "hillbilly" (which drew
nickels in central Illinois?!) and a handful of blues records (Bloomington
did have a small "Black section," where blues records probably drew
nickels as well...?!)
My 45's met a sad fate...I left home to serve in the USAF (rather than
accept being drafted!)...and while I was away, my younger brother took
over my 45's. He handled them VERY carelessly; when I came home
virtually all of them were no longer playable!
