[78-L] Introduction (a bit long)

There's also the tale of when Venuti took bets on what key a piano
played when you dropped it out a window! The scene was Red Nichols'
apartment. There were a bunch of musicians there, from which Joe had
collected money, and then the moment of truth came, where they all
took hold of Red's piano, and dropped it out the window, whereupon it
went crashing to the ground with a huge BANG!

Red was naturally flabbergasted at the spectacle, and not best pleased
at the loss of his piano. As it crashed to the ground, Venuti began
returning everyone's money. Upon hearing what Red had to say, Joe
said something like 'What's the matter? You got your money back,
didn't you?'!
