I thought the original poster just wanted radio songs about or inspired by
specific radio shows.
But if we're going "general" on the topic, I'll toss in two faves from
1936:
Jack Shilkret Orch. Melotone of "I Love You From Coast To Coast." One of
the last and also one of the greatest dance band records from the "studio
band era." Flawless, easy-swing pop stuff....stunning to realize the care
and polish they would put into making a record which cost a quarter, and
would likely be forgotten by most people in a few months.
Richard Himber Orch. Victor of "Through the Courtesy of Love." Gorgeous
minor-strain melody, lyrics about being on the radio. This melody was
pretty well flat-out stolen for the Jackie Gleason theme "Melancholy
Serenade." I think (guess) the Himber record is a Bill Challis chart...I
know he wrote a lot of them for Himber's radio shows and records.
