[78-L] About the Neo-Bechstein recording

Folks: you'll surely think that I'm a bit sticky with this, but heey !!! It's the very first time I manage to put a 78 for share in a website!

Well, some explanations. The record has been copied using a RELOOP TT, equipped with a Shure SS78E stylus, and locked to 78rpm. The preamp used is the Esoteric sound Re-Equalizer, settled to TREBLE=flat, and BASS=300Hz, overimposed to a PIONEER A-209-R amp. It has been passed onto the PC by means of the Sound Blaster external soundcard, and recorded directly using Goldwave.

The only processing made over the file has been an overall loudness arrangement (normalizing) after a bit of fiddling to avoid the worst clicks and pops. These have been edited manually, one by one, flattening the peaks with the mouse. I've edited more or less 20 or 30 clicks, only the ones whose loudness peak was high, and was going to put a limit on the maximum volume of the file. Thus, when the automatic normalizing is used, we'll get an overall good volume level on the music.

I've also flattened out some rough grooves just at the start. You'll find two or three fast noises, similar to a cymbal. It's not a drum set doing the rhythm, but the resulting noises left when flattening the rough start.

Then I made a fadeing at both ends to soften the start and end.

No more tricks. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Any comments, on the piano, on the player, on the transferring work? Any soul wants me to make more transfers, maybe of some spanish music?
