[78-L] Rudy Vallee rejected for postage stamp

Does anyone know of any reason he might have been rejected? (political
activity, social/ethnic/racial attitudes)
For example, I have heard that another well known band leader FW refused
to hire jews, which if true would probably be grounds for rejection, but it
is hearsay, I've seen nothing to substantiate the claim.
  Thanks, Thomas.

person's personality as well as his fame. If this is so, it would have cause
for rejecting Vallee, who had some - shall we say - "personality flaws."
Still, as the progenitor of the crooning movement and the biggest radio star
of his day, he should have been a slam-dunk for a sticky.
