Funny thing about that record. In 1985 I'd returned to Toronto from Edmonton
where I'd spent three years as host of RSVP on CBC Radio (why Edmonton?
something to do with "regional presence", nothing to do with parachuting a
Toronto host onto the Prairies and stranding him there for 3 years) and one of
the songs we played almost weekly as a request was Teddy Bears' Picnic. And I
heard 'THAT SONG' coming from a small speaker at the corner of Yonge and
Eglington one December afternoon. A guy was standing there selling (last
year's) calendars, each of which contained that bear-shaped record.
I didn't buy one.
