Does anyone know the circumstances behind the production of this kiddie record?  Picture at the top of the page here:

It's a 6" personalized Christmas record.  Pretty neat idea but wondering if anyone knows the history of this.  Was it in department stores or a particular one?  Did parents give their kids name then wait/shop while someone went off and recorded a customized version of the record with that kid's name?  Were they made in bulk and sent out - pick your kid's name off the available names on the rack (kind of like buying those silly little license plates at tourist traps)?  Mail order?  Anyone remember getting one of these as a kid?
 
It's listed in Peter Muldavin's children's record book but there was no known history.
