Julian, we KNOW the explanations and they make no sense!
It would be just as pathetic to exclude, say, any and all Edison discs because somewhere, someone knows more about them than the authors. And then continue to list only those Edisons that have been re-issued on CD. 
Transcription discs are rather well researched and they could and should have beend dealt with easily...
