I just finished writing my May column for In The Groove today and thought one of the items might be of interest.

Last week I received the DVD release of the independent film documentary "'Tis Autumn: the Search For Jackie Paris". It's really fascinating look at a guy whose career went up (way up) and then down (WAY down). he died in 2004 just before the film was finished.

There is a great scene where Writer/Director Ray De Felitta takes the 79 year old Paris to seach for his records at the NJ Record Bash. I didn't recognize some of the folks in the footage except our 78-L buddy Artie Zimmerman! And Artie's name shows up in the credits too! BTW we also hear from Joe Franklin and Uncle Will Friedwald.

For those with an interest in Paris and his style of jazz vacals - his big hit was "Shylark", here is link to the DVD on Amazon.
