[78-L] Fw from Brad Kay: A Great Record by Vaughn DeLeath

 I sympathize with Taylor.  It took a 
very long time for me to warm up to Vaughn De Leath, but she completely won me 
over with her OKeh record (40844) of "Dew Dew Dewy Day" / "Vo - Do - Do - De - 
O Blues."  She's unusually charming and musical, probably inspired by her 
sterling accompanists, Rube Bloom and Eddie Lang.  It doesn't hurt that the 
session was at that lovely resonant studio where "Riverboat Shuffle"  and other 
sonic masterpieces on OKeh were done in the spring of '27.  Both totally 
smile-inducing performances.  I especially like her exchanges with Lang's guitar on 
"Vo -Do - Do."   - Brad Kay
