Here is a brief biography of Sam the record store fellow. It mentions that he formed a local orchestra the played Jewish gigs in the New York area, but does not mention any recordings.

Over the week end, I picked up a nice bunch of records and in the pile was a 
very unusual, and, I believe early, Grey Gull. It is a colorful label and 
specifies that it is a Lateral record. I think someone asked if GG ever had 
verticals. I guess if they specify, then they may have had others that were 
verticals. 

I sent a .jpg to Donna Halper who wondered if the singer, Sam Ash was the 
same Sam Ash who had the big music store. I never even connected the two in 
my head. Are they one and the same?
