[78-L] ? Bernard Herrmann, 1947-51

Folks,
        can anyone tell me why Bernard Herrmann stopped composing for film 
between the years 1947 and 1951?  Was it simply for personal reasons?  I 
notice that he divorced author Lucille Fletcher during that time.
        I saw the gap in his output accidentally when I was looking for 
some replacement discs for a different film composer, Miklos Rozsa.  Rozsa 
had put the score for "The red house" (1947) on a three disc album.  What 
would a 78 RPM discography for Herrmann look like?
