atleast in audition (which was cooledit) this is a definite possibility. you can set an initial and final percentage of pitch correction. if you have those numbers, it should sound right. i think the rate of change is linear.

Norman Field, who hasn't returned to this list, transferred at least one
World
some years ago and sent me a copy. Mind you, it was spoken word (a Fred
Duprez
routine). Variations in speaking pitch can be just as audible as variations
in
music, but I don't know if he successfully transferred music.

Playback might be possible if software could be developed by which the speed
of the download might be increased or decreased (which is it?) linearly from
start to finish. That is, digitalize at (say) 78, and then use some program
to adjust for playback. Has this yet been done?
