Thanks for sharing that Lee Morse website, I have had her 78's for years but had never seen her. She even appeared in 3 short subject films which are featured on this site, so you can even see Lee singing. What an unexpected treat.

Hi Harold,

Nope, we're both wrong...I was remembering ( as one recalls a terrible
accident or tragedy) a record by one Judy Rogers, also billed as a "girl
baritone," of the lovely song You've Got Me Crying Again. It was an early
5000 Bluebird, as I recall. I think Ms. Judy might have made some other
sides around the same time...I hope they're better than the one I heard some
years ago.

You might be thinking of Lee Morse, who did make a few records for Bluebird
in 1933...
Kitty O'Connor recorded only for Columbia, from 1925-28. Gosh, I'd love to
find out more
about her. O'Connor's voice does take some getting used to, but I think
she's pretty good.
She appeared in a hit Broadway musical in the 1927-28 season, "Take the
Air", but doesn't
seem to have made a lasting impact, and I haven't learned anything of her
activites after
that point. Her records don't turn up every day, but they don't seem to be
super-rare, either.
Has anyone seen a photo of her from the Columbia catalogues?

Speaking of Lee Morse, her Decca/Coral sides from 1950 demonstrate an even
deeper
voice than in her peak years. She has some devoted fans, and a website:

I think she was just suffering from a bad cold...for about ten years (didn't

she make a couple sides for Bluebird in 1933 or '34?).
