I know that Byron G. Harlan also recorded this song for Edison, but was it
the parody or the original song?

My favorite Wills Parody is this bizarre and crazy song called "There never
was a girl like you", about a man smuggling Cheese across the sea, disguised
as his dead wife in a coffin !!" Yes it's for real, here it is.

Folks always cite "No News" (in fact it became the title and basis for a Ray
Bradbury story) but the first Nat Wills record I ever found was a
twelve-incher, "Hortense At The Skating Rink". Recorded in 1908 and still
funny.
