Actually, it doesn't. "El Paso" runs 4:37 in its unedited version. One stanza was edited out on some releases, the one where the narrator sings: "Just for a moment I stood there in silence / Shocked by the foul, evil deed I had done / Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there / I had but one chance and that was to run." By cutting this stanza, it removed any remorse or regret from the character's actions.

I am curious - does anyone know what the longest 10-inch 78 is? A few 
years ago I saw (and lost out on the bidding on) a South African 78 
of the Marty Robbins hit El Paso on CBS from December 1959 (although 
no doubt early 1960 in South Africa). I was unsure if they split over 
two sides or not because the track weighs in at 5 minutes or so.

Anyone know of the longest 10-inch 78
