Where does the Jesus Maria Sanroma - Boston Pops record fit in all this? I've read that was the first full length recording. True? False?
I have it and like it fairly well, even up against the Whitemans which I love. I might point out that I've had the experience of playing the Whiteman electric for some college kids here over the last few years, and the reaction is universally very positive - 'best I ever heard - wow - that was great- etc etc. I keep an mp3 of it on my desk top here at work for slow afternoons.
OK, how about Jesus Maria and Art Fielder??

I need some help with a flagging memory.
Now then...what was I about to say..?
Ah yes....Didn't Levant record "Rhapsody In Blue" circa 1945?
Or...was it a live performance at Lewiston Stadium in New York by Levant
that was recorded and issued?
Anybody?
