[78-L] Why we collect

Let's see. 450,000. records (or 900,000 sides.)  We can play about 73,000 
sides per year at a rate of 200 per day.
So to play each side just once means playing time of of just over 12 years. 
But that's playing time only. If we factor in eating, sleeping, changing the 
records, turning them etc. and other amusements let's say we double that to 
24 years.
This could compromise the perimeters of our existence including such 
ephemera  as love life, non-love life, earning a living, , relatives et al.
Circle the wagons friends. At least we have each other.

Hi Steve,

Two recent remarks by you and David Lennick regarding your vast
collections, reminded me of someone named Jacob S. Schneider, who had
(in 1957) 450,000 jazz and popular records from 1888 to 1943.

Did anyone ever heard of him ?
