Hi Andrea,
 
Thanks for posting.  Very interesting.  Certainly sounds like a sales convention or something of the like.  Although not easy to get access to these rare journals there might have been an article in The Talking Machine World about it.  As I was going through them for this time period a while back I would notice articles about sales conventions, etc.

Al I see is the patent dates in the fine print and those numbers ( 51637 &
51639) are stamped in the record near the label.
